2004.030.010 embroidery Embroidered and applique man's ceremnial fabric pocket with black strap. Front is embroidery with white, yellow, orange, green, and purple threads appliqued over pick and green fabric. Embroidered section is covered with plastic film. Border is green and pink synthetic ribbon. Pocket flap replicates design on front. Back and rear lining is black cotton-polyester fabric. Lining of front interior is blue and white plaid fabric. Note attached states, "22 July 04 Man's ceremenial pocket, partially completed. It would finally have coins sewn on as well. The plastic keeps the finished embroidery clean."
2004.030.011 Bag Embroidered and applique cloth bag with ribbon strap. Front of bag is decorated with dark green applique and reverse applique over maroon background fabric. Both are decorated with orange and blue embroidery stitches. Back of bag is dark blue cloth. Note attached: "22 July 04 Bags made in Seattle for American market 1984 - 85."
2004.030.012 Haversack Embroidered and applique cloth bag with shoulder strap. Applique bag with interior zippered pocket. Front and black fabric bag has reverse applique of brown fabric over blue and lavendar fabric. Brown fabric is emroidered with pinwheel designs in pink, green, red and off-white. Border is applique of white squares set on point and applique with red and blue squares. Strap, back and inside pocket are black. "22 July 04 Bags made in Seattle for American market 1984 - 85."
2004.030.013 Haversack Bag Cross stitched bag with flap closure and strap. Front of bag is cross stitched design using white, yellow, red and green and blue threads on black coarse fabric. Edges are decoratedd with 5 red yarn pom poms. Flap is cross stitched with same design on front and includes 2 white metal ball and cord loop closures. Strap is black fabric edges with red cord. Back has red fabric applique with white cording and red yarn pom pom center.

2004.030.016 Cloth Cloth Batik Length of double dyed indigo batik cloth. Note: 22 July 2004, Batik skirt length from Laos, artist maker unknown - too bad as this has been double dyed to produce the lighter blue lines and then the darker design. Very difficult to do.
2004.030.017 Apron Apron Batik applique, pieced and cross stitched apron. Skirt panel is indigo dyed batik of maroon, green, whgite and balck applique and pieced wiht 2 red yarn pom poms. Chest panel is cross stitched with maron green, white and black piecing applique with red yarn pom poms in zig zag shape. Straps and lining are black cotton fabric.
2004.030.018 Apron Long and thin apron with large sashes. Body of apron approx. 3ft tall and 10in wide. Red thick cotten sashes with embroidery detail. Body of apron turqoise cotten cloth outlined in black cloth with no embroidery.
2004.030.080 Apron Batik apron. Red cotton fabric outline with blue and white batik design in the center. Red, pink, green, and white embroidery in the chest section. Long and wide black sashes. Blue backing.
2004.030.081 Jacket Light-weight black cotton jacket. Light blue stripe of fabric down the front. Back of neck collar has red, green, and blue small embroidery.
2004.030.082 Hat Child's hat. Navy blue fabric with baby blue, yellow, red, and turqouise embroidery. Large red pom poms on top and sides. Six metal beads attatched. Plastic seed-bead string chin strap attached. Paper note sewn to the interior says: "Southeast Asian Design is a cooperative of artisans from the mountains of Laos. The Mien are famed for thier intricate and varied embroidery. The Hmong, masters of applique, demonstrate the hilltribes love of color, motion, and optical illusion. Many local families earn vital income and preserve cultural ties through the sale of these traditional handcrafts. Handcrafted by Nai Saeng. Design: Girl's baby hat w/playing kitten."
