Mandarin Square - Artifacts

Description
20" x 10" tapestry. Peacock rising from the sea, clouds, floral designs, and orange sun. Dark brown background with blue and white designs. No backing. Holes and frayed edges. Mandarin Squares were used as rank badges with a series of nine birds for civil ranks and nine animals for military ranks. They measured about 12" during the Ch'ing Dynasty and were displayed chest high front and back of plain black or blue out robes.
