Pipe - Artifacts

Description
Three tobacco (?) pipes made from sections of copper or copper alloy and slightly curved with the concave portion being on the side with the pipe stem. A: Long pipe made from eleven sections of brass-colored copper sections which have been soldered along a center vertical seam in the back (opposite the pipe stem). The top is open with a thin metal cross-shaped sheet with hole at center fitted inside at the intersection of the first two copper sections. The bottom is flat, with a round copper piece soldered inside the rim. The stem is 2 3/4" in length with a 1/4" diameter and is soldered onto the sixth section (counting from top to bottom). The stem rim is thick, resembling the head of a screw. The top interior of the pipe has a white sticker with "Seattle Community College Bookstore" printed in black and the number 3 written in purple ink. The surface of the pipe is textured with horizontal ridges, as if brushed. B: Long pipe made from nine sections of copper-colored sections which have been soldered along a center vertical seam in the back (opposite the pipe stem). The top is open with a thin metal cross-shaped sheet with hole at center fitted inside at the intersection of the first two copper sections. The bottom is flat, with a round copper piece fitted inside the rim and secured by the bottom copper section whose edges have been folded over to form a rim. The stem is 2 7/8" in length and 1/4" in diameter and is soldered onto the fifth section (counting from top to bottom). The surface of the pipe has been finished so that it is smooth and mottled. More than likely these are "bongs" used to smoke marijuana.
