Doll - Artifacts

Description
Medium Kokeshi doll made up of a small oval head and a tall body of a wider circumference than the head. This doll is made of one piece of wood (unusual because the head is usually separate). The painted details are red, green, and black. The head is painted with very simple facial details with black bangs and black hair on each side of the face. A red bow is painted on the crown. The body has red flowers with green stems and leaves clustered on the front. One large red flower is at the bottom with smaller red flowers and stems shooting upwards from it. The back of the doll has calligraphy characters on the back as it is the only detail on the back. Water damage is overall, but affecting the front floral design. The basic Kokeshi doll form is a cylinder body with a sphere-shaped head with no detailing of arms or legs. Kokeshi dolls are made of wood with hand painted faces and painted front with a high lacquered finish.
