Description
One brass oil lamp, in four parts. The lowermost section of the lamp is base on four right-angled legs. On this sits the body, shaped like a truncated pyramid and forming a cistern into which the wick is inserted. Holding the wick is a brass tube topped by a brass square that closes the opening of the oil cistern. The cistern is encased in an ornamental chamber of open fret-work in a foliate design. The oil lamp probably originally had a glass chimney, now missing. Cast brass. Probably used on an altar. Tarninshed.
