The fron has a tiger face, red lips outlined with fine gold threads fastened with red thread, white satteen fangs, and pea green satteen nose outlined with fine gold threads held by green threads. Chinese character "King" is on the bridge of the nose. The eyes are comma-shaped off-white satteen outlined with fine gold thread fastened with red thread. The pupils are red satteen dots. Between the eyes are 5 red/blue/green/lavender circles with spiral patterns of five gold threads bound with red or green thread. Along the sides of the hat, the tiger's body is outlined in fine gold threads bound with red thread, with white satteen claws on all four feet. Along the top of the head is a 4" section of red silk fabric with scalloped edges bound with gold fabric and red stitching. Green threads come out from all sides of the section, giving a tassel effect. Over both eyes and in the back of the head are lavender heart-shaped pieces of fabric bound with gold fabric and red threads under which are fastened more green threads giving a tassel effect. The heart-shaped pieces are joined to the hat by a 1.5" long cord of wound turquoise thread. The hat is lined with coarse red cotton fabric. Damage: Black binding between mouth and right ear flap partially unstitched + unfolded over. Top upper lip stitching snagged and broken.
