Hat - Artifacts

Description
Chinese baby hat - 19th century. Black silk baby hat lined with pink cotton. Light blue silk scalloped edge ending in scrolls which goes around face. Pink tape goes around back part of hat starting from blue scrolls. Black bias binding around entire edge. Narrow blue and narrow gold tape across the top of head ending at sides of head in scroll pattern. Inside the scrolls are embroidered rooster heads. At the crown of the head the fabric is drawn and stitched to make a shape to fit the head. On the top is a black lozenge-shape 1.375" lone and 0.75" wide with a red band around it. On the back is a red thread embroidered Chinese character and a smaller one on each side. On each side, attached to the lining are two pink cotton loops.
