Chinese man's non-official formal surcoat. Calf-length garment with center front opening, fastened with two loops and knotted-cord toggle buttons (one at the throat and one at the waist), and pair of ties at the waist. Garment also has sleeves with cuff-like facings, collar and side vents. Body made of shiny black silk satin with 4" flat black silk border. Border has black piping as edging. Lining made of light blue silk, discolored and stained in places. Cuffs are 8" wide, made of royal blue silk
