Description
A foot of coiled bamboo laced together to form a tube to which is laced a tubular basket (A) and its cover (B). Basket (A) is 3 3/4" outside diameter, woven of natural and blue-dyed strips. The bottom is folded under and laced to a mad-weave pattern base. The cover (B) is also a tube, just large enough to enclose (A); it is, in effect, a sleeve. It too has its one end folded under and laced to a mad-weave piece that forms the closure. The exterior and interior patterns of (A) are identical. In (B), the exterior is a pattern of two squares separated from three similar squares by vertical lines of the same color. Each square contains two X's, one above the other. There is no carrying cord. Note: Collected in Laos, 1962-1964.
