Description
Doll, made for craft and exhibition purposes, represents a Japanese girl. The body is made of wet tissue molded over a wire form. The head is covered with painted fabric on which the features have been painted. The hair is made of darning thread. There is a hair ribbon over the left forehead of patterned red (faded) and white silk fabric. The long sleeved silk kimono is navy blue with a printed floral pattern and is lined with yellow silk. The obi is made of a striped silk fabric with stripes of black and a hound's tooth pattern of black and red with a yellow thread line running through. The obi is tied in a style used by young ladies or for festive occasions. There is a narrow white silk tie over the obi. A yellow and orange decorative silk sash is tucked in the front of the obi. There is an under collar of patterned white and red silk. The doll is mounted on a wooden base (5 3/8" x 3 7/8" x 3/4") painted black.
