Description
Strand of Chinese Buddhist prayer beads carved from fruit pits. Each of the 20 beads is individually carved, 18 of them are faces each unique, one is an entire figure of a Buddha and one is decorative. A green rope is used to string the beads vertically from under the chin and through the top of the head. The decorative bead and Buddhist bead are at opposite ends with eight beads on each side. Both ends of the rope go through the Buddha bead and are knotted, leaving a short length of rope. Pits are light brown in color. All faces include eyes, ears, mouth and nose. DAMAGE; general wear from use, some splitting at either ends of beads where rope runs.
