Description
A: Carved wooden Buddhist figure Lacquer painted surface with traces of gilt paint. Standing figure with bare feet, right arm raised at elbow, holding separate lotus flower. Left arm down at side, hand making a gesture (thumb and two central fingers broken off) Carving has a flowing robe, draped over left shoulder. Feet are set on two wooden blocks which fit into a rectangular base (B) 4" x 2 5/8" x 5/8" The base fits into a larger wooden base (C) made of four wooden pieces carved to look like a tree trunk, lacquered and gilded. In set in this base are 9 glass balls simulating jewels. D: Carved wooden lotus flower to be held in right hand, 3" long.
