Medal - Artifacts

Description
A. Military medal. At the top, it has a pin with a flat rectangular metal backing. This rectangular metal piece then fits into another flat rectangular piece of thinner metal whose long sides bend upward. Folding over the first piece by about 1/16". Held between the two metal pieces are the two ends of a ribbon: one end folds over the flat backing of the pin, extends down about 1 3/8", gathers, through a metal ring with about a 1/2" diameter to form a u-shape at the bottom of the ribbon, and then folds upward so that the other end is attached to the metal pieces. The ribbon is orange-yellow in color and has three vertical striped bands: a central band which is blue, white and red striped, flanked by two bands which are striped white, red, and white. The ribbon has horizontal ribbing also. About 1/3 from the top of the ribbon is a horizontal row of three metal stars which come to a point in the center. Each star has two metal prongs extending from the back which pierce through the ribbon and then fold downward to attach the star. A circular metal piece with a 1 1/4" diameter has a knob at its top with a hole to attach to the circular ring so that the metal piece lies flat with the ribbon. Two men each with a rifle and halmet in the foreground, a palm tree flanked by other tree trunks and a group of additional men in the middle ground, and three shops and three planes in the background. Along the upper edge of the circle, it reads "Asiatic Pacific Campaign," the words also being cast in the metal. On the reverse side of the circular metal piece are cast an eagle standing with wings at its side on a flat rock, the words "United States of America" in the upper right area, and "1941/1945" in the lower left area. This side also has a raised ridge around the outside of the circle and the dark outline of a triangle on the knob at the top. This back side also has small black spots, discoloring the metal, on the eagle's upper body and near its head and discoloration at the bottom of the circular piece also. Measurements: 1.5" x 2.75". B. Military pin associated with the medal. It has a pin with a flat rectangular backing.
