Medal - Artifacts

Description
A: A bronze star medal. At the top it has a pin with a flat metal backing which has a small hole in the lower left corner and in the lower right corner and a long narrow opening at the top. The metal surrounding the sides of this opening is curved. A piece of ribbon gathers through a metal rectangular ring which is cast with the bronze star. The ribbon forms a u-shape through this ring and folds in half with the ends meeting near the top of the medal. One end wraps around the top of the pin's metal backing and goes through the narrow opening. It is sewn to the other end of the ribbon which extends up to the metal backing and to the metal backing itself through the two holes in the corners. The ribbon is horizontall y ribbed and has a red background with a central, vertical blue stripe. The blue stripe is framed by two thin white stripes, and the outer edges of the ribbon are also white. A 5-pointed bronze star ,with a smaller raised star in its center cast as one piece with the rectangular ring, hangs from the ribbon. The back of the star has "Wing C. Luke" inscribed within a circle of raised words reading "Heroic or Meritorious Achievement". Measurements: 1 1/2" x 2 7/8". B: A military pin associated with [A]. It has a pin with a flat rectangular backing. This rectangular metal piece then fits into another flat rectangular piece of thinner metal whose long sides bend upward to hold the other piece in. Held between the two metal pieces are the ends of a ribbon which wraps around the outside of the second metal piece. The ribbon is horizontally ribbed and vertically striped in the same manner as the ribbon on medal. Measurements: 3/8" x 1 3/8". C: A lapel pin formed of a flat circular disk with raised edges and a vertical metal part which rises from the center of the disk and supports a flat rectangular strip of metal, resting on its broad side. The disk and the support are worked from the same piece of metal; the strip at the top has been separately attached. The rectangular strip also has rectangular sections it it, inlaid with a sequence of colors the same as the ribbon of the metal. The circular disk fits into a button hole and the strip of metal then extends above the hole for display. Measurements: 1/2" x 5/8". D: A stiff paper card printed in black. It has the words, "Department of the Army, Washington, D.C." with gold eagle holding other symbols at the top. The rest of the card reads, "It is an honor for me to forward this decoration", signed Frank Pace, Jr. Secretary of the Army. Measurements: 3" x 5". E: The case for the bronze star metal. It is black with gold wavy lines forming a double frame on the outside of the cover, gold lines edging the vertical sides of the top and bottom of the case, and a gold wavy line around the edge of the inside of bottom part of the case. The inside of the cover is lined with yellow satin. The inside of the bottom part of the case is covered with yellow velvet-like material and has been divided into parts with a raised section at the top measuring 1" x 3". Measurements: 3.5" x 6.5". All items are in good condition. The card [D] has yellowed slightly around the edges.
