Pin - Artifacts

Description
U. S. Army discharge lapel pin. Bronze lapel pin formed of two parts: (A) is a ring with an eagle cast in metal with a pointed screw perpendicularly attached to the center of the back of the eagle; (B) is a metal disk with corrugated sides and a hole in the center which screws onto the other piece. One side of the disk has a raised smaller concentric disk attached to it. The ring of the first piece is divided into two parts with the upper half decorated with horizontal etchings, surrounded by a raised ridge and the lower half vertically striped, alternating plain bands with vertically striated bands. The eagle stands within the ring. It has outstretched wings and its left wing is shown in front of the ring while its right wing is shown behind the ring. The ring and the eagle were cast as one; there is some openwork within the ring. There is some discoloration in various areas on the piece.
