Scale - Artifacts

Description
Brass scales in carved wooden box. A: Box, B: Scales Box front has 2 circular areas with elephants facing each other. There is a leaf motif from base of circles which continues to top center of case. The case is split, the top portion pivoting from a nail at the right end of the case. At the left end a thin brass strap folds over the left end of the lid to hold it in place. The scales consist of two brass pans about 1 1/2" in dia. suspended by 4 cords about 4" long from a metal balance beam which is 4 1/2" long. At the center of the balance beam is a pointer 1 3/8" long which slides through 2 sides of a hanger l 5/8" long.
