Puppet, hand - Artifacts

Description
A marionette puppet in the character of Hanuman, the monkey king from the Ramayana in the HIndu tradition. Carved wood jointed body and head. Gold painted headdress, face painted red green, yellow with pointed gold ears; painted green and gold fists painted red shoes. The costume has a plain green top with decorative yoke and cuffs of stiff red material covered with sequins and braid with a glass bead in the middle of each. Brocade green "dohti" skirt/pants with "apron" of the same red stiff material decorated with sequins, braid and glass beads. Yellow lace sash. A wooden crosspiece is attached to the puppet by cotton string.
