Doll - Artifacts

Description
Emperor and Empress dolls for Girl's Day display (Hina Matsuri) A&B: Emperor doll with clothing of silk brocade, primarily rust-colored with floral patterns in green, gold, blue and black. He is sitting with arms extended forward in a semi-circle, his kimono sleeves extending back and to the side. The lower part of the kimono is also extended out to the sides. The hands, feet and head are of painted wood and the head (B) can be removed. The doll is stuffed with excelsior and covered with paper and then the outer fabric. The fabric is worn and deteriorated in many places. The hands and feet are chipped and broken. H: 10.5", W: 10", D: 4.5". Hat & accessories missing. C&D: Empress doll has a 7 layer kimono primarily rust-colored with floral pattern. She is sitting with arms extended in a semi-circle and sleeves drape down. Lower portions of kimono are padded and flare out at sides and back. Various colored layers at bottom of gold, green, yellow and orange. Padded portions are stretched and glued to under paper layer, excelsior stuffing covered with paper and fabric which is worn and deteriorated. (B) Head and hands made of painted wood, fingers broken off. Hair on both dolls is painted on. Fan missing E: Headdress H: 6", W: 5.5", D: 1", gilded stamped metal, phoenix finial, wire extensions with stamped metal cherry blossoms, coral beads, 3 on right side, 2 on left.
