Doll - Artifacts

Description
Court musician doll (originally part of a Hina Matsuri set) A: Doll is seated on wooden cylinder with circular bands. His left arm is crooked in front with hand near chin, right arm and hand are extended to front. Outer robe is made of faded orange crepe with couched gold thread scroll designs (deteriorated) and blue and white embroidered flowers with green leaves; sleeves are padded; 2 white, 1 orange, 1 green underrobes show at neckline; 2 white show at sleeves (paper ones show at back of sleeves). Green brocade (faded) hakama covers robe, except at sides, and extends under feet (gold floral pattern faded). Matching green robe is off the shoulders so sleeves hang down back and is fastened with self-fabric obi at waist tied in bow at front. Doll's head is attached but moveable, made of molded wood paste dipped in gofun; black painted eyebrows, red painted mouth, inset glass eyes; black hair tufts at sides, front and back (top tuft is missing). Painted wood carved hands (chipped paint on left hand) B: Baton or cane L: 4.5", Diam: .175", black painted wood stalk with unpainted wood knot at one end. (May not belong to original doll) C: Drum of painted paper bound with purple silk cord, crushed and broken (Drum would be tapped with right hand)
