Doll - Artifacts
Description
4 court musician dolls (Hina Matsuri sets usually consist of 5)
Doll 1: 4.75x4.5"
A: Separate head on peg made of molded wood dipped in gofun; gray painted eyebrows, red painted mouth, inset glass eyes; bald top (shaved) with black fiber hair on sides pulled back into topknot.
B: Body is seated on black painted grooved cylinder; arms crooked forward, painted carved wood hands in front, right raised, left near waist. Outer robe and hakama of "old gold" on purple brocade in a peony design, upper part of robe is off shoulders and hanging down back affixed with self-fabric sash, blue paper lined sleeves. Under robe exposed on top is gold on orange brocade in a floral design, padded sleeves; 5 collars visible at neckline.
C: Hat, etateboshi style made of black enameled paper, tied with purple cord under chin.
Doll 2: 3.75x5"
D: Head same as doll 1 except 2 tied hair tufts on each side of head
E: Body in kneeling position, left arm raised high, curled fingers, costume same as doll 1.
F: Hat, suienokan style with horsehair net in back
Doll 3: 4x4.175"
G: Head same as doll 1 except he has a full head of hair
H: Kneeling position, left hand raised to mouth; outer robe visible, no hat
Doll 4: 5.5x4"
I: Head same as doll 1 except 2 long hair tufts tied on both sides
J: seated on cylinder, arms crossed
K: Etateboshi hat stuck to head
