Doll - Artifacts

Description
Court Lady Doll for Hina Matsuri Display A: Separate head on a peg made of molded wood paste dipped in gofun; chipping forehead has clear lacquer repair, scuffed nose, red painted mouth, inset glass eyes, black painted hairline; black fiber hair tied in back with thread and protected with a folded paper covering. B: Body in a seated position with painted carved wooden hands held out in front and painted carved wooden bare feet crossed near ankles in an informal position. Outer robe of plain white silk lined with pale blue silk crepe, off-center opening, square neck, folded front panel, sleeves hang down back with yellow silk thread running stitch at edges; self-fabric sash at back. Under kimono of orange, yellow and brown brocade in framed floral designs shows at neckline, padded sleeves and a tab extends from front outer robe. 2 beige and 1 pink collar at neckline. Pale yellow silk damask pants gathered at mid-calf. Originally one of a set.
