Palanquin - Artifacts

Description
Model of Court Palanquin (Kago) mounted on a base for Hina Matsuri Display A: Palanquin made of lacquered wood; upper roof in two sections of reddish brown lacquer joined with a panel of gold and mustard colored brocade with floral design, gold painted edges, black lacquer underside with two flanges on each section; upper roof sits on shoulder bar which extends beyond ends of palanquin, reddish-brown lacquer with pine design painted in green and gold on front side, ends are finished with stamped silver pieces, shoulder bar attached with silver straps to lower roof; lower roof of reddish-brown lacquer has painted gold edges and silver straps and corners and front center; body of palanquin is reddish-brown lacquer with gold painted stripes, painted gold and green pine tree and two cranes on front, faux doors, windows on three sides are gold and orange brocade with orange, red and white tassels; body sits on two gold painted stools which are attached to a wood base covered with red silk, front edge of base is covered with brocade striped silk and a black lacquered bar; at both ends of palanquin are gold painted bases for two umbrellas; the whole palanquin is tied together with orange and white cord B: Umbrella has long black handle tied with red cord at one end, white silk cover at top has a rectangle of gold and red silk and is tied with orange cord. C: Wooden stool with shoes, H: .875", W: 1.625", D: 1.125", stool made of natural wood with thin layer of varnish, top has straight grooved pattern; on top of stool are a pair of black lacquer shoes with red painted interior glued to the surface D: Bombori standard, H: 5.375", W: ", has long black handle tied with red cord at one end, white silk cover in flattened ball shape at top tied with orange cord.
