Koto - Artifacts

Description
Miniature stringed musical instrument (Koto) for Hina Matsuri display Koto is made of wood, convex shaped over its length, wider at one end than the other; ends are covered with faded green, white on orange brocade; metal fittings cover the sides at each end, one metal fitting on top of one end is fan shaped and is covered by the 13 waxed strings which fan out over a ridge of metal, the strings are attached to holes behind a metal ridge at the other end, at this end is attached a lacquered paper plaque with black calligraphy--actually gold painted papier mache which is embossed with flowers and vines and is flaking.
