Doll - Artifacts

Description
Boy's Day Doll is a hybrid of historical figures: Nobunaga face with Kyomasa mon and lower rank straw sandals A: One piece standing doll with head molded from wood paste and dipped in gofun (oyster shell powder), painted black eyebrows, moustache, shadow on chin and hairline, painted red lips, inset glass eyes. Black silk fiber hair hanging long and tied at base of neck with purple silk cord. Wears a jimbaori sleeveless coat worn over armour in red gros grain silk with lapels that match fabric kimono and hakama (purple, orange, tan and green brocade), edged with white and orange silk cord and is tied at the sides with gray cord. Snake eye mon made of papier mache painted gold. Kimono is made green silk and cotton brocade with floral and geometric design in orange, purple and tan and shows sleeve only. Left arm is covered with black plastic armour panels attached with black chain mail and beneath tan silk brocade with gold magic wand and Buddhist design. Armour consists of breast plate of black plastic panels laced with orange cords; below waist is 4-tiered 3-paneled armour laced with light orange and orange/white cords; two panels hang from waist in the back. Off-white silk habutai belt tied in front. Hakama gathered above knee is made of same kimono material. Black plastic shin guards laced with orange cords in X design and tied in two places with black rayon flat braid. Feet have brown tabi socks with black dots and design painted on and has woven grass waraji sandals held on to ankle. Both hands are painted pale green. One scabbard is attached to doll with white and red cord, tied to right hand; appears to be made of wood painted with black lacquer, curves slightly. B: Eboshi hat, H: 2", W: .75", D: 1.75", made of horizontal textured cardboard painted with gold on outside, red band at base ties in bow in back, decorated with X stitches in blue thread, holes on both sides through which runs a orange and white cord with tasseled ends to tie under the chin. C: Sword (Tachi), L: 7.75", handle has metal tip and is wrapped with brown cord, metal sword guard in shape of petals with embossed floral design, metal curved blade. (Scabbard is attached to doll) D: Sword (Tachi), L: 7", handle has metal tip and is wrapped with charcoal gray cord, metal sword guard in four petal shape with embossed design, metal curved blade. E: Scabbard for Sword (D), L: 6.125", wood painted with black lacquer, upper one third is decorated with black braid wrapped over orange and gold silk brocade which is fastened with metal fasteners in two places and has two holes for cords to attached to armour; white and gray cord is tied to through one hole.
