Description
A & B: Two musical instruments called Nui in Hawaiian used to accompany the Hula dance. Consists of a half coconut shell, the inner surface untreated, the outer surface varnished. The shell has been cut in two lengthwise. In the center of the outer surface is a circular area, about 1" diamter, that has been filed flat on and around which are traces of glue as if something had been fastened to the shell. In the center of the inner surface is a small residue of glue. The two shells are tapped together to make a rhythmic sound. C: Smaller version of A and B with no mate.
