Basketry Band - Artifacts

Description
Circular Band Woven band of brown and yellowed dyed grass fiber. Yellow fiber forms geo- metric designs through imbrication. Yellow fiber was sewn on both edges around the band to form a border. There are four decorative panels. The smallest panel has 8 horizontal lines in the center of it. It is bordered by 4 vertical lines: two on each side. Largest panel is bordered by chevrons, then subdivided into 4 sections; in each section, centered in the middle are 2 yellow triangles and 2 brown ones. The next panel is predominantly yellow. In the center of it is a diamond that has been divided into yellow and brown triangle. There is also a yellow triangle above and below the diamond. There are 2 brown zigzag shapes on each side of the diamond. There are 2 yellow triangles bordering on each side of the zigzags. The triangle points face each zigzag. The last panel is bordered on both edges by chevrons. In the center panel, space is divided by three sets of double diagonal lines. 2 brown triangles were created by the diagonal spacing. At both edges are 2 yellow triangles. There is a brown stripe above and below the center panel. The band is also joined together in this panel.
