Jacket - Artifacts

Description
Padded jacket made of unbleached cotton muslin. Probably padded by cotton and lined with the same outside fabric. Jacket is collarless, piped with cotton twill tape around the neck and front. The sleeves are narrow, dolman, open under the arms. It has four button holes on left front, two white shell buttons, one two-hole white button, one four-shole tan colored button on right front. It has quilted vertical machine stitches in front, around the neck, and back to secure the padding. This type of garment is worn between the kimono and outer garment, such as Haori. But it could be used as an outer jacket and around the house. The jacket was used as a theatrical costume at Nippon Kan Theatre and in Japanese American community in Seattle. The jacket has many stains: yellow, gred, green, and blue throughout.
