Calligraphy - Artifacts

Framed Calligraphy Black sumi ink on white damask silk cloth which has a woven floral pattern. The calligraphy has four large Chinese characters in the center and a column of characters on each side. The characters mean: "Coming together as One" or "Friendship of fellow Countrymen". The cloth is wrapped around a large piece of cardboard and attached to the frame with nails. The wood carved frame has a decorative plaster pattern in a narrow band on the inner side of the frame and on a wider fluted band on the outside of the frame. The bands are covered with gold paint and the plain middle is a dark brown . There is plain glass covering the calligraphy. The black paper dust cover has been removed from the back. There are two screw eyes with a hanging wire extending across the back. Condition: Silk has been stained around the edges, possibly by water. The glass and frame are very dirty.
