Description
Clay plaque face Made of beige pottery baked with no slip, antiquing effect made by dark brown slip in crevices, shape of a face in the center, large ears, bulging eyes and mouth, outlined with heart shaped raised outline, frog-like figure above with swirls on either side, two holes at top have green rayon ribbon threaded through for hanging purposes. Explanatory paper: representing ancient worship of goddess, protection from evil forces, made in Miyazaki Prefecture. Stored in lidded cardboard box with wood shavings. Lid of box says "Omi agi haniwa doki" (Haniwa pottery to take home)
