Description
Painted wood ornament in shape of tea kettle. Possibly relates to the Babuku Chagama story. A: Bottom of tea kettle, wood carved in a round shape with planges around the middle and hollow inside. Outside top is painted grey with white, yellow nad brrown cherry blossem design with a yellow brown and black bamboo window in the background. Round wire rings are fastened are either side simulating handles. Black enamel bottom. B: H: 1.375", Dia: 1.25":Tea kettle lid: painted grey, gold painted knob on top and a white and brown painted branch on one side of the top. Glued to the bottom of the lid is a carved wood kokeshi style animal figure with swivel head.Painted brown head, back and front paws with black face, white eyes, and yellow eyebrows, wiskers and nose. Glued into the lid beside the figure is a wire rod with straw simulating a broom. The figure originally beside the animal has become separated. C: H: .875": Small carved wood kokeshi doll with swivel head. Painted light blue pate, black eyebrows, eyes and nose, red mouth. Painted white haori and black hakama.
