Description
Straw Horse (Wara Uma) Made of bundles of sedge tied with straw. Body is formed from horizontal loop and is split at back to form two back legs. Two bundles for front legs are looped inside the body and the bundle forming the neck loops around the front of the body , the neck is tied with shorter pieces of sedge knitted to form a mane at the back. The ears are made of twisted sedge and the mouth consisting of upper nad lower jaw are larger pieces of twisted sedge inserted into the neck. The tail is curved twigs inserted into the back of the body. Sedge rope made of one green and one natural cord are tied throught he mouth and behind the ears and fastened across the back as a rein. Three broad flat pieces of rush are dyed green, tan, and orange and tied over the back of the horse.
