The handkerchief is folded into the shape of a HAPI. The design on the folded handkerchief is applied with the wax-resist method. The outer area of the coat shape has a vertical design in indigo and white. The collar is in black with writing vertically down each side. The inner lining is in gray and white plaid. The back of the HAPI has a crest or MON of three cherry blossoms in a circular pattern.
