Description
Embroidered satin Robe possibly used for theatre Long shaped robe has a diagonal closing extending to the right side. Long sleeves cut in one with the body with flared extensions. Short stand up collar with squared front. The robe is made of pale blue satin and lined with white linen. The entire robe is embroidered and couched with birds, trees and flowers. The front and back have identical embroidery motifs which join at the shoulders. There are three purple, orange, white, black and aqua birds worked in silk thread satin stitch. They have yellow beaks, pink tongues and pink and black eyes. And are sitting in a tree which has gold and silver couched bark. The tree has green leaves and yellow orange and aqua blossoms worked in satin stitch. Near the bottom of the tree are large, purple pink and white peonies with green leaves. At the very bottom are pink aqua, yellow, purple and white ovals which maybe colorful mushrooms. These are surrounded by green spiky leaves. The extensions on the sleeves are embroidered in the same style, with two birds branches, leaves, and chrysanthemums in the same colors. The neck, side opening and sleeve and bottom hems are trimmed with a bright blue satin band which has a woven design of silver plum blossoms and black branches. The collar is also covered with this same trim. On the inside of this band is a silver woven braid with a white and red center. The robe is fastened with a total of nine white braided cord frogs forming three petals one side with loops and the other with knotted balls. There are two brown spots near the bottom and two on the front right sleeve.
