Tea Caddy - Artifacts

Description
Ceramic Cha - ire, Tea Caddy, with stopper and Shifuku, silk cover. A: Bottom of Cha - ire, ceramic tea caddy. Flat bottom rounding out to sides, extending straight out to flat shoulder and standing rim. covered with dark brown glaze inside and out, the bottom is unglazed. The yellowish triangular shape glaze extends from one side of the shoulder down the side of the caddy. The white clay on the bottom has swirl shape lines and an impressed seal on lower side near the bottom . B: White ivory or plastic stopper, Dia: 1.25", Top has rounded rim around edge, depressed center with tiny knob in middle, Bottom of the stopper curves in at the edges and extends down where it fits into the top of the tea caddy and is covered with good foil. C: Shifuku, Silk Bag Cover, made of grey and gold brocade with Buddhist knot design and Phoenix motifs. Sides of the bag are made from two pieces sewn half way up leaving upper slits on both sides. Shaped with darts near the bottom. and sewn to a stiffened circular bottom. Lined with purple silk. Braided purple silk cord tied in a loop is attached to both sides of the bag with crossed stitching. This allows cord to be used as a draw string to gather up the top of the bag.
