Description
Round, low, wood pedestal with carved stand used for Ikebana flower arranging. Dark wood stand, possibly two pieces, with a flat top, similar to a round plate, which has raised rim and is attached to a larger disk base. The base disk turns inward at the bottom and is carved in an open work style with an organic motif. The top surface is decorated with a double line circle at the center. The side edges of the round plate are recessed (turned?). The bottom of the base has a hole at the center through which the top plate is visible. Four "feet" extend from the carved base as raised points. The pedestal is stained a cherry wood color. Printed on the bottom in white ink is, "7675 Hong Kong". Also on the bottom on black vinyl tape is the donor's name, "P A Uno". Some repairs have been made to the base where the wood has cracked and some small pieces have been lost from the base carving. This pedestal would have been used for more formal "Chinese style" arrangement.
