Description
Wood pedestal with five legs used for Ikebana flower arranging. Wood stained a dark reddish brown, flat circular top with a raised rim, hole drilled in the center surrounded by two grooved rings. The rounded edge of the top curves in and below this recess a carved ring has a pierced design with five double leaf motifs. The leaves and the spaces between the motifs are accented with groups of three incised lines. Attached to this decorative ring are five S-shaped legs that have knob-shaped feet on the bottom. The legs are joined together with a wooden ring attached to the back of each leg just above the feet. The ring is cracked in one place and appears to have been reglued to the legs. One leg has become separated from the ring. Engraved into the bottom of the pedestal, "Made in China" and the donor's name "Uno". The donor's name is also written in red nailpolish, "P Uno". This pedestal would have been used for more formal "Chinese style" arrangement.
