The dried pericarp of Chinese Prickly-ash. Zanthoxylum schinifolium Sieb. et Zucc. or Bunge's Prickly-ash, Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim. (family Rutaceae).
1. to invigorate the vital function of the stomach by dispelling cold for the treatment of gastralgia and dyspepsia due to cold.
2. as ascaricide.
