Sash (Obi Age) - Artifacts

Description
Red Obi Age Sash for Women The fine plain woven silk has been stitch resisted and dyed red. The intricate design consists of floral motifs - chrysanthemums, kiri leaves - . These motifs mirrored at the other end of the sash. Part of the design has more solid puffy areas in contrast to the fine line motifs. There are diagonal lines in the background and at either end the silk has been left untied. Above this are two horizontal lines. Where the sash was tie dyed it has shrunk to 6" wide.
