Garment Pieces - Artifacts

Garment pieces used to make Chinese style jackets Front extensions: A: 1 black indigo dyed polished bast fibre with pair of cloth ball buttons and loops tacked to one end, B: 1 medium blue indigo dyed slightly polished cotton with pair of brass ball buttons on loops tacked to one end, C: 1 medium blue indigo dyed cotton with pair of cloth ball buttons and loops tacked to one end, D & E: 2 dark blue indigo dyed highly polished bast fibre with pair of cloth ball buttons and loops tacked to one end, F: 1 very dark blue indigo dyed cotton with pair of ball buttons and loops tacked to one end, G: 1 medium dark blue indigo dyed cotton with pair of ball buttons and loops tacked to one end. Front jacket facings: H i-x: 10 black indigo dyed polished bast fibre, I i,ii: 2 very dark blue indigo dyed polished bast fibre Sleeve and side pieces: J i,ii: 2 dark blue indigo dyed polished bast fibre, one piece has been cut off just below the sleeve Side fronts and backs: K i-viii: 4 charcoal colored indigo dyed cotton, one set joined at shoulder and 4 dark blue indigo dyed cotton (one piece tacked inside charcoal colored set) Fronts and backs: L: 1 black indigo dyed bast fibre folded at shoulder, M: 1 black indigo dyed bast fibre 12 fabric remnants: N: Includes indigo dyed bast fibre and cotton ranging from black, dark blue to medium blue, some have been polished. Used to make Chinese style jackets and pants. One piece has a tag stamped with Chinese characters.
