Pants - Artifacts

Description
One pair of men's Mien loose-fitting indigo pants made of cotton homespun cloth. There are two matching embroidered panels on each leg. The embroidery is tight cross-stitch of lavender, shades of pink, purple, and beige done in a geometric design. Embroidered panels are attached to a plain non-embroidered indigo gusset; forming a generously cut crotch. Five standard designs are used at the bottom of the pant legs to form the border. Four of these designs use the weaving stitch and the fifth uses the horizonal/vertical stitch (taken from "Peoples of the Golden Triangle" by Paul and Elaine Lewis, p. 138). In front lower leg of pant is a small individually designed square that contains a bow of red, yellow, and green with a beige center. Underneath the square is a small beige cross-stitch in a snake-like design. (This design indentifies the maker of the pants. In the pant leg under there is one item that is stitched in red thread to show imperfection to the Gods.) There is a 5" wide cotton strip forming the waist band, which is hand-sewn to the pants.
