Description
Bamboo pipe (a) slightly cancave bend on side of major component, from which a much smaller tube, 3 1/2" long by 1 1/2" in circumference, extends outward at about a 30 degree angle. The actual bowl of the pipe (b) is fitted to the end of the small tube and measures 2 1/4" in length and 6 1/4" in circumference. The bowl is well burned inside and decorated ouside with a series of incised patterns. The major tube is also decorated where the smaller tube connects. The decoration is of incised lines. Two are cercumferential. Six form a series of eight small Xed squares forms the center panel of the design. A metal puramid-shaped clip reinforces the main tube at the juncture with the smaller. The draw end of the pipe is light colored. Note: Collected in Laos, 1962-1964
