Doll - Artifacts

Description
Doll depicting a male merchant standing on an elaborate stand A: Separate head molded from wood paste and dipped in gofun (oyster shell powder), black painted eyebrows and hair, red painted lips; fiber hair is missing. B: Body is standing with left foot forward and big toe curled up, hands held in front of chest. Clothing consists of a brown silk crepe haori jacket with the faint stripe, tied in front with a faded green cotton cord. Beneath is a brown patterned striped kimono with a navy blue cotton lining and stiffened with blue paper. A black paper lined obi is visible from the front. 2 layers of black collars at the neckline represent underrobes. Wooden modern style geta sandals on his feet. The figure is fastened with 2 wooden pegs on a base resembling a round wooden table with 5 curved legs painted reddish brown. Condition: The silk jacket and robe have deteriorated revealing the blue paper stiffener, black fiber hair is totally missing, gofun is missing from the hands.
