Sword - Artifacts

Description
Miniature sword stand and sword with scabbard, (Tachi) A: Sword in three pieces, i: Handle, L: 4.75", slightly curved wood handle finished with textured brown lacquer. Gold colored metal cap at the top of the handle has a cloud shaped opening surrounding chrysanthemum blossoms on both sides. A decorative ring holds it in place. Near the bottom is brass band. With a loop through which is threaded an orange and white silk braided cord ending in two tassels. At the open end is another brass band, actually appears to be a scabbard which has a handleless blade inserted inside it but is acting as a handle for the larger sword blade and scabbard. ii; Blade, L: 4.125", silver colored metal blade, has a recessed design of a dragon on both sides and a flange which extends upward into a handle. B: Sword guard, (Tsusba) L: 1.25", W: 1", gold colored light weight metal ovoid shape hollow inside with embossed decorations. C: Sword blade: L: 5.5", slightly curved pointed metal blade embossed dragon on both sides small hole near the pointy end, broken hilt. D: Scabbard; L: 7.5", slightly curved wood piece hollow inside finished with reddish brown lacquer. Has gold colored metal fittings in the shape of a cloud at one end. From this end extend two arrow shaped fittings with hearts cut out of their heads. To bands hold these fittings to the scabbard above this is a band with two more arrow heads. A handle is formed in the top of the scabbard by two embossed bands which extend out to two metal bosses holding two mauve stiffened silk loops. A thick braided cord in blue and yellow is tied through the loops and ends in two tassels. There is another embossed band and the top of the scabbard. E: Miniature sword stand; H: 7", the platform is made of wood coated with black lacquer and has a ring shaped projection at front center to hold the scabbard in place . The base is decorated with two gold dragon flies and white grass blades. On both of the front corners a gold colored embossed metal shield protects the edges. The back of the base is a square shaped hole with a flat wood piece at the top which has three rounded corners. At the bottom of the post are two orange painted metal flanges which extend through a slit in the post and have embossed irises on the front . Condition: both blades missing appropriate handles. C: broken at the top; orange paint wearing off the sword stand.
