Chinese day bed (Chia-tzu-chuang) made of broad leaf Machilus wood Disassembled: A: 1/2 base-4 legs, slats between cross pieces, rot and dampness evidence on 2 legs (L: 80", W: 28", H: 21"); B: 1/2 base-4 legs, slats between cross pieces, 2 heavier carved legs and carved apron, 1 broken cross bar (L: 77.5", W: 30.5", H: 21.5"); C: End section-wood panel, open cross bars, squared cloud design, 10 spindles, 3 spindles with tabs, crack in panel, loose pieces*(W: 56.5", H: 64.75"); D: End section as in C, squares filled with medallion shape* (W: 56.25", H: 64.5"); E: Top Canopy-open design (L: 72", w: 53.5"), F: Side section-wood panel, open work with squared cloud desing, 2 short legs (W: 72.5", H: 25"); G: Crossbar-finished wood (L: 68.75", W: 1.5" H: .75"); H: Cabinet-2 cupboard doors, 2 drawers with brass handles, spindles, curved top entending beyond cupboard, cracked (L: 74", W: 11.25", H: 14.25") I & J: 2 wooden locking pegs (1.5 x 5.25"); K: carved wooden ornament of a woman on a deer? and a figure to the right; L: " figure with a crane? Came with 2 tatami mats and 3 pieces of wood not original which fit under mats Bought from Taiwanese garden whose family came from mountainous area. Paint on bed was removed professionally and donor refinished with oil. Appraised by Honeychurch Antiques.
