Handkerchief - Artifacts

Description
Set of three square white cotton or bast fiber handkerchiefs with drawn work and applique shadow work geometric designs. Overall pattern is symmetrical, consisting of stepped rows of squares in each corner and two stacked rectangles on each side, all done in drawn work. The central motif in each corner are appliqued "L"-shaped designs (shadow work) and two small squares applied by the same technique. The overall effect gives the central solid a notched-lozenge shape. A red on white oval stickers reads, "MADE IN CHINA" in one corner of both 1993.80.7A and 1993.80.7B. The sticker on A is misprinted so that "CHINA" is cut off with only the "C" visible. A cluster of small rust colored stains are located an inch from the center of 1993.80.7C.
