Handkerchief - Artifacts

Description
Set of two square white cotton or bast fiber handkerchiefs with drawn work linear designs and appliqued shadow work flowers. Overall pattern is symmetrical, consisting of a sevel petaled flower (applique shadow work) and embroidered stems and leaves in each corner. A diagonal row of five embroidered dots at a 45-degree angle from the corner and two clusters of three dots are also a part of the corner design. Drawn work linear patterns include incomplete squares at each corner, two "L"-shapes at each corner and a simple line flanked by a stepped pattern at each end which extends from corner design to corner design.
