Kokeshi Doll Turned wood, one piece, thick round head and body tapering at bottom and carved vertical grooved pattern around bottom edge. Head is plain except for painted black hair at crown, two marks on either side of forehead, eyes are black horizontal lines as if they are closed, faint red dot for nose; body is painted with gradations of red and black. On the bottom is stamped "Japan" and a red stamped seal.
