Parasol - Artifacts

Description
Higasa silk Parasol Fine pink silk top withpainted design of Mt. Fuji in blue, white, black and gold and cherry blossom design with grey painted branches, green painted leaves, white and pink painted blossoms with yellow stamens flowers are enhanced with white, pink, and fuschia colored silk embriodery. the silk is held inplace on top of bamboo spokes with strips of bamboo which have decorative nodes running around the top of the parasol. The spokes are joined to black lacquered knob surrounded by blue paper. Split bamboo inner spokes are held in place to the outer spokes by cotton cord running through holes. The other end of the inner spokes are connected to a serrated knob. Pink thread woven in a pattern through holes in the spokes hold them in place. A wooden center pole is attached to a bamboo handle that has been cut so that roots form the knob at the end. A metal clip on the pole holds parasol up when open. On the outside a purple silk cord is sewn part way down one of the spokes. It has been formed into a loop with a knot at one end and bow and tassels at loose end. When parasol is closed cord is wrapped around it and loop buttons over the knot.
