Basketry Vase for nageire style Ikebana flower arranging Made of bamboo stained brown and lacquered. Cylindrical body slightly bulging near the bottom. Open heaxagonal weave, braided rim. Has two sets of two young bamboo branches woven at an angle through the hexagonal weave to create a decorative element on two sides of the basket. Handle made of twisted strands of bamboo and braided so that the handle is attached in four places. Bottom circumference is reinforced by ring of bamboo woven into bottom. Made in Japan. May originally have had a waterproof insert.
