Description
A two parts hardboard box ( L: 1.81", W: 1.81", H: 1") with a small wooden bottle in it. 1997.43.12A: The box lid. The outer surface of the lid is covered purple wefts and red supplementary wefts. On the top of the lid is a red label, which has names of the medicine and the brand. The bottom edge is golden foil but it is flaking. Inside the lid is covered by yellow brown paper. The name of the medicine is Liu Shen Pills, pills of six ingredients with magical effects (Calculus Bovis, Margarita, Borneol, Camphora, Venenum Bufonis, Realgar, Moschus), used as an antiphlogistic for acute tonsillitis, sore throat, boils, intestinal abscess, deep-rooted boil, acute mastitis, intramammary abscess, etc.. 1997.43.12B: The bottom box. The bottom box is a little smaller than the lid because of the thickness of the box. The bottom edge has the same wefts as the lid. The box is covered by red paper. The bottom side is covered the same paper in the inner lid. 1997.43.12C: Wooden bottle. A black wooden bottle (H: 0.83", W: 0.83). The bottle seems that it does not have any opening. 1997.43.12D: Prescription sheet. A piece of thin white paper (L:8.07", W: 7.09"). The black frame is blurred and disappeared on the lower corners. The red stamps are blurred. There are brown stains on the paper. There is a tear on the upper side. The paper has water marked characters, and some of them are the name of the duge store, but others can not be totally identified. Usage: take ten Liu Shen Pills with boiled water in one time.
